There are lots of ways to promote your iPhone app without spending a cent, such as twitter, forums, social networks, email campaigns, review sites, etc.
But there are also lots of paid advertisement opportunities in the Internet. I think banner advertisement can help your app sales and also will bring more traffic to your website where visitors can find more about all your apps. Sounds great! Let’s take a look at the Top 10 list of advertisement sites!
I found lots of sites via Google and BuySellAds service, then I created the list of these sites and sorted them basing on Alexa traffic range. I tried to choose only sites which are relative to iPhone and iPhone apps, i.e. I excluded sites like Mac Rumors, Apple Insider, etc.
So here is the result of my researches!
| No. | Name | Alexa | Compete | Price, month |
| 1 | iPhoneDevSDK | 15608 | 97876 | $100 – $2000 |
| 2 | iPhone Download Blog | 17760 | 29009 | $85 – $250 |
| 3 | appSafari | 19574 | 25660 | $199 – $499 |
| 4 | PocketGamer UK | 21853 | 31263 | $149 – $249 |
| 5 | 148Apps | 22764 | 28493 | $149 – $999 |
| 6 | AppAdvice | 30235 | 42488 | $79 – $600 |
| 7 | iPhone Tips and Tricks | 30329 | 26481 | $135 |
| 8 | iPhoneApplicationList | 30903 | 35793 | $150 – $350 |
| 9 | AppVee | 41272 | 63609 | $199 – $299 |
| 10 | AppCraver | 47698 | 45355 | $300 |
I think that prices are quite reasonable, your app will get lots of exposure! Well, $2000 price for banner on iPhoneDevSDK is pricey, but others are quite good.
Small-budget campaign on these sites can cost about $1000 – $1500, i.e. if you take 1 cheap banner on each site. Since your exposure will be much more, perhaps it can increase sales for more than $1500.
Please share your experience with banner ads.

Very nice. Thanks for putting together this chart.
I haven’t launched any banner campaigns yet but will reference this later when I launch my own app.
[...] Top 10 sites to advertise your iPhone app [...]
Great article, this will be very helpful to iPhone app developers looking to advertise their apps. In addition to these sites, many developers use search engine advertising on Google or Yahoo to promote their app.
I’m often asked if this strategy is helpful, so I recently wrote an article on using search engine advertising for iPhone apps that your readers might enjoy: http://www.marketingyourapp.com/2010/02/should-i-use-paid-search-to-advertise-my-iphone-app/
Interesting list, there is this new site though.
http://www.TopAppFinder.com is a new marketing campaign for iPhone and iPad apps.

Yeah great list, but I am not rich. I am tired of having to pay $20/$30 or up to $150 to have a site review my app and then get this little posting that generates only a few sales if any.
I post on http://www.myappname.com all my releases, updates and what not straight there. It’s free, can anyone beat that? doesn’t require an account and my post shows up at the top of the front page immediately.
I like http://www.appshrink.com
They can create video review for your application and publish press release.
One site I would recomend for iPhone app reviews is http://bit.ly/guQOSj. They offer completly unbiased and detailed reviews of all lates iPhone apps

Great list, albeit I would take some of the sites Alexa ranking with a grain of salt especially those running forums, they get their page views from less unique amount of users browsing the forums and/or posting on forums a lot
