Earlier we wrote about our virtual travelling app called Globetrotr. We have created that app quite long ago, we worked hard to find information for interesting places on our planet, we’ve collected photos, places, everything which could be interesting for iPhone community. After polishing our app we had submitted it to the iPhone AppStore.
Waiting
We waited for a quite long time – about 3-4 weeks. Usually reviewing process was much faster, i.e. Brain Twister was approved within 2 weeks and iQBloxing was approved within 10 days.
And now, when Apple returned back from Christmas holidays we saw that Globetrotr’s status was changed to “rejected”.
Why?
We’ve received some explanations from Apple. We’ve provided information about public figures, e.g. photos of their homes and some descriptions. It’s a violation of section 3.3.7 of the iPhone Developer Program License Agreement, which prohibits “…violating the legal rights (such as the rights of privacy and publicity) of others.”
Now What?
Now we will remove right’s violation from Globetrotr, i.e. we will remove any information related to public figures and then we are going to resubmit it to Apple. Be careful when you create and submit your app – do not violate any legal rights!
P.S. It’s interesting for us to know why your app was rejected, if any. Could you please tell us a bit about rejection reasons?
That’s a very interesting first-hand account of submitting your app. Since you can only sell your app through the App Store, it’s good advice to other developers to double check they have the rights to use everything in their app.
